Pre-GCSE

The Community Schools tuition for our year 7 and 8 students focuses on improving maths, English and Science at pre-GCSE.

We find that students can sometimes find the transition into secondary school a challenge. They may find it difficult having different teachers and perhaps only seeing their maths or English teachers two or three times a week. It may also be the first time that science has been separated into the Biology, Chemistry and Physics components. It is easy for their progress to stall and for confidence to be lost.

At the Community Schools we specialise in enabling students to build up the foundation skills at pre-GCSE, their understanding to enjoy their learning, and to regain confidence. 

Each student is tutored as an individual within a group of 2 or 3 students sharing the time of the tutor. They receive effective tutoring that enables their skills and confidence to improve so that success in assessments will follow.

The term is 10 weekly sessions of 75 minutes length.

Subjects available: Maths, English, Science (all 3 disciplines combined).
